Whether they came as plastic cartridges, CD-ROMS or digital downloads, video games have been a prime feature of the entertainment market for decades, and the sheer variety of games produced over that time- and which continue to be produced today- is virtually impossible to enumerate.

One aspect, however, remains universal when it comes to video games. Regardless of the characters, story lines or individual features, every video game possesses its own language of icons, images and symbols. Some of those symbols have become emblematic of the video game industry itself, and their numbers will only increase as technological developments continue to reach heights unprecedented in the history of human creativity.
