In the Harry Potter novels, Ravenclaw is one of the four school houses that students can be placed in when they arrive at Hogwarts. Named for Rowena Ravenclaw, one of the original medieval founders of the school, its colors are blue and bronze and its heraldic device is an eagle. The defining traits of members of Ravenclaw House are intelligence, wit and wisdom.
