This ideogram is from the famous
stele of Naram-Sin from around
2300 B.C. An Akkadian king can be
seen worshipping this structure, an eightpointed Venus
with its radiation symbolized by five wavy lines between each of the
star's eight points. Its meaning is Venus in both of its appearances, the Morning star
and the Evening star, the goddess Inanna or Ishtar.
See in Group 29 for a derivation of the mathematics of the numbers five and eight, and the Venus star signs.
