When used nowadays in pharmacological contexts like catalogs it indicates that a drug or medicine is not free to buy, but has to be prescribed by a certified physician. The modern meaning of  thus is only a certified physician may prescribe this medicine.
In astrological symbolism or  are signs for retrograde movement. As seen from earth the planets move primarily in the same direction as the sun in the zodiac, but now and then every planet seems to come to a halt and then to begin to move backward. This apparent reversal of movement is called retrogradation. Many astrologists claim that a retrograd planet in an individual's birth chart (horoscope) symbolizes tendencies or energies inherited from previous incarnations, i.e. karma from earlier lives.
