This type of structure is common on Bronze Age objects found in different parts of the world. The sign has also been found on Nordic rock carvings. Some researchers consider it to be a sun symbol but this is contradicted by the fact that the well-known and more common sun symbol appears on the same rock carvings. Furthermore, the sun cross is one of the most important signs apart from engraved on an old gold horn found in Slesvig, Denmark.
Our only clue as to its meaning, and it is a weak one, is that in rare instances is used as a sign for fire or flames in Western ideography, and that signifies the staff of Poseidon or Neptune as well as the spear used by devils to torture humans in the flames of hell.
Similar rock engraved prehistoric symbols have pictures of hands rather than fish spears emanating from the rim of the round disc.
