An alchemical sign for one of the most important iron ores, red iron oxide, bloodstone, or haematite.
The same structure, but with the longest axis horizontal, could mean aurum musivum, to the alchemists. Aurum musivum was a bronze colour, similar to gold. The sign  was a synonym.
