43:2 · The same structure as above but placed vertically is an old British marine sign for dead flat, the widest part of a ship's hull. This sign is a combination of the common part of two partly joined circles: 25:3. Dead flat could also be drawn 47:8.
    Compare with found in an African sign system meaning married couple or wedlocked love.
    According to E. Zehren (see "Bibliography" in Part III) 43:2 is the ing rune, a divine sign used by the Germanic tribes Ingveons, Cimbrians, and Teutons. It was these peoples' ideogram for the moon god that graphically unites the new and the waning moon, 20:1 and 20:2.
