Fascists in all parts of the world have in one way or another been fascinated by  , the ideogram for lightning. As this sign is a symbol for the s-sound in the runic alphabet it has become associated in Germanic countries with sun, strength, battle, victory, words which all began with an s in the old Scandinavian language.

The sign  appeared on the uniforms worn by certain South Vietnamese troops before the Communist seizure of power in all VietNam.
