25:04

25:3 · This sign appears in genealogy and indicates that a person is married. Its basic meaning is togetherness or intimate relation. It is related to the graphic symbolism of astrology where 26:1 represents the individual spirit or human being. The much more modern signs 41b:38 and 53:17 have the same basic meaning, but also indicate the sex of the two intimately related persons. The Nsibidi people in Africa use to indicate a married couple. Note that the main part of this ideogram is composed of the common part of two joined circles. Compare with 48:17, unmarried, and 48:22, divorced, both genealogical signs.
In the French hobo or gypsy sign system this entry means insist here, they will give. In the Swedish system of hobo signs this entry means here there is nothing to be afraid of, go on begging. In the British system it recommends the tramp to tell a moving story. And in the US system (according to Dreyfuss) it means here police treat tramps roughly. If this is correct, the American hobos probably perceive 25:3 as a pictorial sign for handcuffs. In eighteenth century chemistry 25:3 was sometimes used for oleum empyreumaticum. According to Diderot's Encyclopedia 25:3 means sugar. Compare with 19:1 in Group 19.
