This ideogram represents Michaelmas, the first day of the winter half year in Scandinavia of the Middle Ages. According to the clog almanacs (see in Group 5) this day was also the autumn equinox. The idea of Michaelmas as the first day of the winter half year has its origin in an old Nordic division of the year into two parts: the summer and the winter half years.
