20:3 · The pictorial sign 20:3 represents the new or waning moon seen in the region of the equator and was a symbol for the moon god Sin, the god of vegetation in the Euphrates-Tigris valley culture between the years 2000 and 1000 B.C. Note that 20:7 was also a common sign in the Euphrates culture during the same period. It probably had the same meaning as 20:3.
    Compare with for the new moon from the Egyptian hieroglyphic system. It is strange that the Egyptians turned the sign 20:3, picturing the new or waning moon as seen in the Nile valley, 180 degrees when used as a hieroglyph.
    20:3 appears as a mark of cadency signifying the second son. For more details about marks of cadency, turn to 22:30 in Group 22.
    The horizontal crescent sign of the type , signifies the Arabic League, a union of Islamic states.
