This sign for a water drop is in fact not a pictorial sign, although it is usually thought of as one, because a water drop is spherical in form.  is a modern ideogram that appears on household appliances and machines. It signifies that the appliance is safe against splash and can be used outdoors under cover.
When this sign is doubled,  , it means that the machine is waterproof.

Signs of similar shape but not filled,  , are common in comic strips. They are drawn as three or more "drops" around the head of a character, like  , to signify embarrassment or feeling akward.
