09:08

9:5 · This sign is known as the Jerusalem cross, the cross of Palestine, and was used as a symbol for the Latin kingdom of Jerusalem after the Holy city had been conquered by the crusaders until the kingdom of Jerusalem was conquered by warriors from inner Asia fighting for the sultan of Egypt in 1244. The symbol was painted or woven in gold on a background of silver.
See 03:6 in Group 3, and compare with 27:21, the symbol for Jerusalem about 400100 B.C.
09:5 sometimes appears as a decoration, i.e. the sign for an order or fellowship.
See 09:5 in Group 28 for more data.
An early form of the Jerusalem cross was drawn 41a:44.
