39:2 · The sign for the element of fire, 2801, but with a cross added to its top became the most common symbol for phosphorus, a substance that is closely associated with fire. Phosphorus was also drawn 3011. As phosphorus was not discovered until 1669, 3904 is in fact an early chemical sign rather than a late alchemical.
