The plaited
pentagram has
been a protective sign against evil powers in the Western
world and in Japan. It is found in the Nordic countries drawn on the
doors of barns and storehouses to ward off trolls and to
invoke the aid of protecting forces. Even the hexagram
sometimes appears plaited.
