18:1 · The straight line joined to a uniformly curved line to form an open sign is a common structure in Western ideography. This variation of the two basic elements of Western ideography was once used as a sign for the goddess Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess corresponding to the Roman Venus. Aphrodite was also drawn 4702, 4205, 4209, and 41a07.
    The same structure is used in a modern electrical contexts to signify sliding contact, 1802.
