Symbol 2:19

02:19 ·
The ideogram
is most commonly known as the sign
of Aries, the zodiac sign represented by the
ram. As an astrological and astronomical sign
denotes both the part of the space against
which the sun is seen moving during the period from around
March 21 to around April 19 each year, and this particular
period of time. It is related to the fiery element in the
astrological symbolism of the elements, and as such refers to persons
whose feelings are easily aroused: temperamental personality types. A
person born during this period in all probability has a temperament
characterized by dynamic creativity and a tendency to perceive the
environment in terms of intuitions of the opportunities it may
mean.

a sign, astrologers believe that one is more aggressive and pioneering
than others. Look up "quadruplicities" in the Word Index to

, the ram with its horns, is very prominent and
important in the mythology of antiquity and in the architecture of
that epoch. The Greek hero Jason tried to bring home the golden fleece of the
ram, and some very old temples in Egypt are approached by walks
surrounded by statues of rams. There are also sfinxes with rams' heads.

The symbol
has been used in mythological
contexts since at least 5,000 years in the Euphrate-Tigris and the
Nile areas, where it often had the form
. In ancient
China the similar sign
is found carved in a
rockface about 3,600-3,100 years ago. As an Egyptian hieroglyph
was a pictorial glyph for the uterus of a
heifer, and
was first used to signify cow and vulva. Semiotically the ideogram illustrates the idea
one becoming two in the same way as its "graphical opposite",

illustrates the idea two
becoming one.
